The Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad built a series of landmark hotels adjacent to the stations across the western part of Canada. One was the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton, completed in 1915 and named after Canada's first Prime Minister. The hardware shows the railroad's monogram.
